Quick answer: extract the pack with password 123456, install the official IDM build, then right-click the activation script and run it as administrator. IDM becomes the full version permanently — no serial, no patch file, about 2 minutes.
What each step does — and the one prompt people miss.
Download IDM_Activator_v6.43.zip from the download section and extract it with the archive password 123456. Inside: the official installer (idman643build8.exe) and the activation script (IAS_v1.2_WindowsAddict.cmd) — the open-source activator from the WindowsAddict project, the same team behind Microsoft Activation Scripts.
Run the installer and finish setup. When it opens, close IDM completely — right-click its tray icon near the clock and click Exit. The activator can only register IDM while it is not running; this is the step people miss.
Right-click IAS_v1.2_WindowsAddict.cmd → Run as administrator. Choose Freeze Trial (or Activate). Wait for the confirmation message, open IDM — About → it shows a genuine, full license. Your downloads list and settings stay intact.
The three things that can get in the way.
Windows SmartScreen warns about batch scripts. Click "More info" → "Run anyway". The script only writes IDM's own registration keys — nothing is downloaded.
Any activation script is flagged as HackTool — a false positive in this niche. Temporarily disable real-time protection, run the script, re-enable. Details in the FAQ.
The script asks you to close IDM first. Exit it from the system tray (next to the clock), not just the window — then re-run the script.
